E-Safety Concerns

27th November 2020Kathryn Charlton

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has come to our attention that there are currently some video clips circulating the internet and specific sites such as ‘Tik Tok’ that are unsuitable for children and young people to view. If any pupils have seen anything that has upset them, they can speak to their teachers in school, our designated Safeguarding Team – Mrs Cook and Mrs Williams or our Computing Coordinator – Miss Charlton.

It has also come to our attention that some children and young people are accessing age inappropriate games and apps. We advise parents and carers to take note of the PEGI rating shown on games and apps. The PEGI rating gives an indication of age related content. Sometimes a game or app can look fun, but with a PEGI rating of 18+, it should not be accessed by any child or young person below this age.

Finally, the release of the PlayStation 5 has also raised some safety issues. Please refer to guidance provided by National Online Safety if you have any concerns: https://nationalsafety.com/

Alternatively, you can speak to a member of staff in school.

Mental Wellbeing

1st October 2020Emma Cook

As part of the work we are doing in school to support mental wellbeing, today we started our Relax Kids sessions. All children will be taking part in a series of lessons to help them to develop strategies to deal with anxiety, stress, anger and promote resilience. Claire from Relax Kids is an expert in her field and loved working with our children today. Look out for some of the photos from the sessions.

Remote Learning

14th September 2020Kathryn Charlton
Good morning year 1 and year 1/2!
Miss Rutherford and myself are already missing all of you and we cannot wait to get back to school!
Bitmoji Image
Today, we begin our remote learning journey, therefore, it would be helpful if you could set up your child’s Google Classroom account. I will be uploading a video that shows you how to access GSuite for Education from home for the first time alongside written instructions.
Here are the written instructions:
  • First, log out of any other Google Accounts on the device that your child is going to be using for their learning. This means that they can easily access GSuite for Education and all of their school Google apps.
  • (If you are still having problems, please open an ‘incognito tab’, this will stop the other Google Accounts from logging in automatically).
  • Next, click the green log in button at the top right of the screen on our school website (www.forestview.uk.com).
  • Enter your child’s username and password.
  • If you do not know what their username and password is, please send me an email at [email protected] to confirm their details.
  • Next, click on the icon for Google Classroom, the old fashioned chalkboard icon.
  • Finally, they will be asked to ‘Join’ their class, either Year 1KC or Year 1/2AR.
  • Once they have joined their class, you will be able to see messages from their teacher on the ‘Stream’ page and work set by their teacher on the ‘Classwork’ page. Each assignment will have instructions provided, but if you have issues with any activities, please do let us know.

Please do let me know if you are having any problems and I will do my utmost to help you from home.
Stay safe everyone,
Miss Charlton

Back to school

4th September 2020Emma Cook
Hi everyone. We have been busy preparing the school for reopening next Tuesday and are excited to see all of our wonderful children back. 4 more sleeps!!!

Here is a reminder of the information sent out in July regarding reopening.

Reminder
There will be a full return to school on Tuesday 8th September. Whilst many restrictions have been eased, we will continue to follow government guidance and put safety measures in place to minimise the risk to children and staff. For your information I have listed some of the measures that will be in place.
– Children will work in year group bubbles and the mixing of bubbles will be avoided.
– Start and finish times will be staggered to avoid crowds at entrance and exit points.
– A one adult drop off policy will remain in place and we respectfully ask that parents do not stay to chat in the yard once their children are in school.
– Regular handwashing will be built into the day for all children. Hand sanitiser is in all classes.
– Extra cleaning will take place during the school day.
– Children will have their own resource pack so that they do not need to share frequently touched items and other resources will be cleaned regularly.
– Lunch and break times will staggered to allow bubbles to remain apart.
– Anyone with symptoms must remain at home.
– Unfortunately, we are unable to have face to face conversations with parents and carers at this time but we are more than happy to discuss issues / concerns over the phone. If teachers are unavailable when you call due to teaching commitments they will call you back as soon as possible.

Our full risk assessment will be updated for September and published on our website.

All parents of pupils starting our nursery and reception classes have been given an individual date and time for their child to start. After this they should attend the times given below.

Please see below for staggered start and finish times. It is very important that children arrive to school on time and at their allocated time slot. Children should enter school via their classroom door (staff will be around to help). Children do not need to line up on the yard.

Nursery 8.45 am – 11.45 am

Reception 8.45 am – 3.00 pm

Year 1 9.00 am – 3.10 pm

Year 2 9.00 am – 3.10 pm
