Primary Futures aims to broaden primary school children’s horizons and raise aspirations. As part of our partnership, all children are accessing live sessions from employers, who inspire our children to think about what they would like to be when they grown up and give them advice on what they need to do to get there.
We have been focusing on Careers in assembly. We looked at raising children’s aspirations and broaden their horizons with a seasonal twist for the end of term with the session, ‘What’s My Line? Festive special.’ Children met a suite of employees, who are working very hard to bring festive magic, and the children had to guess their jobs using clues:
- Katie the brand manager of a wrapping paper company
- Jason the craftsman at Buckingham Palace
- Andrew the Christmas tree grower
- Jane the Christmas decoration shop owner
- Oliver the warehouse manager for Crisis Christmas centres
As part of this workshop – all of the employees stressed the importance of reading to carry out their roles at all levels.
