Cricket Lessons
This term, Year 2 are fortunate to have two coaches come into school to teach them how to play cricket. Each week, our class will be learning various skills used in cricket, such as how to throw, catch and bat.
Christmas Party
Before the Christmas holiday, KS1 children had a fantastic time at the Christmas party. They danced, played games, won prizes and ate their delicious snacks!
Tennis Festival
On Thursday 23rd November, our class visited Temple Park to take part in a tennis festival. Here, they learnt various tennis skills, such as backhand and controlling the ball on the racket. Year 2 had a fantastic afternoon!
Outdoor Classroom Day
Year 2 took part in Outdoor Classroom Day on Thursday 9th November, with a focus on the environment. We learned lots of different ways we can take care of the environment, such as, recycling rather than littering and turning the lights off when we’re not using them. As part of our learning, we walked around the school to see all of the different things Forest View does to look after the environment.
West Boldon Lodge Visit
On Tuesday 7th November, KS1 visited West Boldon Lodge for a day of learning about the Great Fire of London. Pupils learned about the three things that create a fire: heat, fuel and oxygen. They then built houses out of straw and tissue paper which were then set on fire. Pupils were able to see just how fast this flammable material burns! After lunch, pupils had the opportunity to bake bread on an outdoor fire and taste their own creations.

PE – Tuesday and Thursday
Children are to come dressed in their PE kit.
Reading
We ask that children bring their reading book to school every day as they are read with multiple times a week. We also encourage children to read at home every day to improve their fluency and comprehension.
Here are some links to some good websites to support the children with their learning.
