  • To foster pupils’ understanding and enjoyment of music through an active involvement in listening, composing and performing, providing opportunities for cooperating with others and the opportunity to perform, compose and listen to music
  • Ensure children have access to the use of a varied selection of musical instruments.
  • To develop an awareness of musical traditions and developments in a variety of cultures, societies and historical periods
  • To develop confidence and self-esteem so as to actively engage in group and solo performances
  • Pupils enjoy music during lessons and in a wider context
  • Support parents and carers with developing a positive attitude to music through sharing of ideas and supportive materials to develop the home school link – to develop and embed the use of YUMU as a home/school teaching and enrichment tool
  • To develop musical skills and an understanding of music through external provider enrichment provision.
