Last week in maths, the children were learning to count in twos.
We used practical equipment, number lines and even found the missing numbers in sequences.
This week, we are learning how to divide by 2. The children have been sharing counters equally between two groups and later in the week we will be writing matching number sentences!
Well done mathematicians!
Good afternoon everyone,
Here are some materials that you may find useful to support your child’s understanding of e-Safety and their remote learning.
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has come to our attention that there are currently some video clips circulating the internet and specific sites such as ‘Tik Tok’ that are unsuitable for children and young people to view. If any pupils have seen anything that has upset them, they can speak to their teachers in school, our designated Safeguarding Team – Mrs Cook and Mrs Williams or our Computing Coordinator – Miss Charlton.
It has also come to our attention that some children and young people are accessing age inappropriate games and apps. We advise parents and carers to take note of the PEGI rating shown on games and apps. The PEGI rating gives an indication of age related content. Sometimes a game or app can look fun, but with a PEGI rating of 18+, it should not be accessed by any child or young person below this age.
Finally, the release of the PlayStation 5 has also raised some safety issues. Please refer to guidance provided by National Online Safety if you have any concerns: https://nationalsafety.com/
Alternatively, you can speak to a member of staff in school.
The class have said, ‘We are a team, we love Commando Joe’s, team year 5!”

Our ‘Going on Safari’ topic has allowed us to explore stories set in Africa such as Handa’s Surprise, We’re Going on a Lion Hunt and Rumble in the Jungle. The children have really enjoyed using Talk for Writing drama techniques such as ‘story mapping’ and ‘freeze frames’ to rehearse each story and become more familiar with it. This has enabled the children to produce some fantastic pieces of writing in English lessons.
