Children from Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed a visit from Toby Glover this term. He read some of his books, answered questions about being an author and how to become one. He talked about the process of writing a book and how he works with his illustrator before sending his work to Amazon to be printed. Toby was really good at developing the children’s understanding of the vocabulary in his books and he even used voting to select the texts to be read to the classes. We are always using our British Values at Forest View!
If you scan the QR code below, you will be able see Toby’s books and enjoy watching videos of him reading all of his texts with your children.
“Toby was great with the children. He read his stories, checked comprehension and developed the children’s understanding of unfamiliar vocabulary!” Mrs. Simpson.
“He had a really cool range of books that he told us all about. I’m going to look out for them.” Sydnie.
“I loved that one of Toby’s books was based on his sister’s pugs and that there were real photos of them in his book!” Archie.
“Toby’s reading was so interesting…he used different voices for the characters. I want to be able to do that when I am older.” Amalie.
“Toby had the children’s attention and they were eating out of his hand. They enjoyed the way he told the stories with expression, fun and laughter. He was really good with them!” Mrs. Jordan.
Toby has promised, that if any children have copies of the book bought for them, he will come back to school to sign them after half-term! Let us know if any of your children would like this!
